Notes from the Archive: Albert Paley, America's most important sculptor working in steel, often works at a large scale, producing public sculptures weighing many tons. However, he continues to enjoy creating pieces for the residential realm, with an intimacy and intricacy which echoes his early career as a jeweler. These candlestick feature wispy and delicate wraps of steel that seem more spun than fabricated. A lithe and sinuous set for a grand table.
