Notes from the archive: Catalogue was produced in conjunction with Tom Loeser's first exhibition at the Peter Joseph Gallery. Loeser has long used color as a major aspect of his style, and in this exhibition he further explored a technique of gouging the mahogany and then painting stripes across their surfaces in milk paint, creating patterns and genuine textures.  He created six different wall cabinets, all sporting drawers and doors along with two full size blanket chests with lids.  Additionally he produced a small group of cardboard pieces with wood accents, perhaps initially inspired by Frank Gehry's Easy Edges Collection, but in his hands the material takes on new surface textures with inlaid stripes of soft milk paint colors.
