Notes from the Archive: The design for this stool came about after many discussions between international designer Patricia Urquiola and Peter Mabeo of Mabeo Furniture. They wanted to re-visit traditional African furniture and reinterpret it in a contemporary way. They found it interesting to produce this collaboration in Africa instead of African craft inspiring design and art externally as it has over the past decades. Architect and designer Patricia Urquiola, has been named Designer of the Year and is known for her extraordinary designs in architecture and for major manufacturers including Mororo, B&B Italia, Cassina, Molten, Flos and De Padova. Her work is widely esteemed by international museums and collectors alike.
