Notes from the Archive: One of a series of drawings of Street Furniture in the Memphis style. George Sowden and Nathalie Du Pasquier collaborated on numerous drawings of interiors, towns and cities expanding the view of Memphis design. In this drawing, Du Pasquier has imagined the perfect setting for a long telephone conversation, complete with a spectacular antennae for improved connectivity. A checkerboard floor piece gives the phone area it's own generous boundaries rather than the usual tight, closed in space. Phone booths might still be offered if they were as innovative and comfortable as this original proposal.
