Notes from the Archive: After launching Acme Studio in 1985 with a successful limited edition collection of jewelry by Peter Shire, Adrian Olabuenaga contacted Beppe Caturegli and many other designers of the world-renowned Memphis collection to design jewelry utilizing a cloisonné enamel technique. Beppe Caturegli worked with Ettore Sottsass and Sottsass Associati from 1982-1989. His work for Sottsass Associati was more architectural in nature, but was influential with the work done for Memphis. The Monocroma series was a very popular part of the collection in including two different brooch designs and the variation here of the bolo tie. The Memphis Designers for Acme collection debuted in 1986, at the opening of the Memphis/Milano exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City. The entire collection is in the permanent collection of the Groninger Collection in The Netherlands and is represented in other museum collections worldwide.
