Notes from the Archive: Philippe Starck has designed a wide range of consumer goods and interiors. He focuses on mass-produced consumer goods rather than one-off pieces, seeking ways to reduce cost and improve quality in mass-market goods, which makes him a truly democratic designer. His products have sensual, appealing forms suggestive of character or personal identity which are often given clever or whimsical names. This chair is in the permanent collection of MoMA, the Brooklyn Museum, and numerous international museum collections.
