Notes from the Archive: Albert Paley's designs for lighting bridge the divide between his intimate decorative arts pieces and his large-scale sculptures. They are monumental enough in style to feature heavy structural elements, yet personal enough in scale to showcase his deft, almost casual mastery of delicate steel ribbons. This example shows restraint, with a pair of effortlessly draped ribbons adorning its classically inspired structure. Architectural, yet masterfully sculptural all at the same time, this piece lights up any room it inhabits.
