Notes from the Archive: This chair was originally designed in 1940 for the MoMA competition, "Organic Design in Home Furnishings", and this design was featured in the category entitled "Seating for a Living Room". The competition was juried by Marcel Breuer and Alvar Aaalto among others and Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen won numerous awards. Due to the war, and the fact that production costs were high, this chair was not ultimately produced until 2005 by Vitra.
