Notes from the Archive: Florence Knoll is an American architect, interior designer and furniture designer. Through her studies at Cranbrook she met Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames.
In 1946, she married Hans Knoll, who was just establishing a new American furniture company. With her interior design skills and architectural connections, she helped build Knoll into one of the most important international design companies.
This now-classic, scaled down settee, with its geometric profile, has become a collectible icon of mid-century design.
