Notes from the Archive: In 1999, Albert Paley had the opportunity for a print residency at San José University. He experimented in both lithography and with the process of creating monoprints.
To create the mono prints, Paley applied his visual vocabulary by using pattern and shapes from his recent sculptural projects, as well as utilizing materials at hand to craft new pattern pieces. This one-of-kind print uses only black, shades of grey and the white of the paper for contrast, creating a complex level of depth and richness to the final work.
