Roma Chair
by Marco Zanini for Memphis

Artist/Designer: Marco Zanini
 b. 1954, Trento, Italy
Title: Roma Chair 1986
Medium: Fiberglass with metallic finish
Dimensions: 35.5" h x 35.5" x 35.5"
Manufacturer: Memphis/Milano
Details: From the 1986 Memphis/Milano Collection, this chair represents one of Marco Zanini's most important designs for Memphis. This example has a deep green metal flake finish on the fiberglass. In very good condition in the original crate from early production.
Notes from the Archive: The Roma chair utilized molded fiberglass-a material not typically associated with furniture, and pushed the boundaries of plastic materials for use in the living room. The metalflake finish is a direct reference to flashy American hot-rod finishes, while the form is certainly a metaphor for the chair's historical relationship to a throne. Long out of production, it is extremely unusual to find one of these chairs in good condition, especially as many were used outdoors. We are privileged to own two of these very rare, early production examples (Priced separately). A coup for any collector!
