Christoph Radl

B. Switzerland, 1955

Christoph Radl has spent the majority of his professional life in Italy, enabling him to participate in “Mediterranean creativity” to blend surrealism, contemporary art, and a foundation in Bauhaus design. An active member of the Memphis Group, Radl produced several iconic logos for the group, among many other print items. Beyond this, his list of collaborations includes the studio Sottsass Associati, Alessi, and Armani. Notably, Radl designed the still-used logo for Alessi during the early 1980s. Radl maintains that his work does not reflect a personal style, and through it he strives to understand the context in which his work is to be used, and then tailors the whole of the design to best suit that context.
