Notes from the Archive: Frank Lloyd Wright is America's most famous and beloved architect of all time. Wright's ideology focused on the complete integration of the residence; including the site, the structure, interior and exterior, furniture and ornament -- every element was connected. Wright described his goal, "To thus make of a dwelling place, a complete work of art...this is the modern American opportunity."
In 1971, a group of representatives from Cassina visited Taliesen West to ask for the license to produce the furniture of Frank Lloyd Wright, although nothing came of their visit until 1986 when the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation contacted Atelier International, Cassina's exclusive agent. The furniture collection was produced in limited editions following strict guidelines to assure the authenticity of Wright's design.
