 Ron Arad

B. 1951, Tel Aviv

Dubbed by MoMA “Among the most influential designers of our time”, Ron Arad’s diverse body of work includes objects, exhibitions, public sculpture, and architectural projects. Arad is known for experimenting with his chosen materials by re-imagining the form and structure of objects and buildings alike, taking inspiration from everything around him. Arad’s forms are voluptuous, often defined by the natural curves of bent sheets, in steel, carbon fiber as in his Well Tempered Chair, or in cast aluminium as in the limited edition of his well-known “Big Easy” chair. Arad’s accolades include the Royal Designer for Industry (2002), the London Design Week Medal for design excellence (2011), and election as a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Art, London (2012).
