Notes from the archive: Miniature in 1:4 scale perfectly produced by Memphis/Milano. Designed by founder, Ettore Sottsass, this miniature represents one of the most iconic designs in the Memphis Collection.The Memphis-designed laminate patterns were digitally scaled down to scale from the original design for the full scale bookcase. The laminate design used in the base is named "Bacterio" and was also designed by Sottsass. Drawers actually open, as in the original bookcase. All the history of furniture and design books proclaim the design of the Carlton bookcase to be one of the most important of the 20th Century. Extremely collectible.
